Test

Test In 9/14/09
Mile - 8:49
Completion - 27:02

Test Out 10/19/09
Mile - 8:53
Completion - 26:30

Mile time was slower but overall completion was faster.

Reflections/ excuses:
After the Maui Half, I stopped running. The thought was I only had 3 weeks to prepare for the Mud Run in Boots and Utes and I was focused on putting mileage on the boots and working out the blister problems.

I started back withglutens (gasp) . It's fall (well it's supposed to be) and I'm craving comfort foods. Correction to this will happen soon. I just need to get this out of my system (ha-figuratively and literally) and I will start to eat better again.

It was dark and my headlamp was once again in the back of my car. I did slow for a bit when Femmie went down in front of me. That could/would account for the 4 seconds.

I'm amazed I'm still running the mile in a sub-9. It wasn't long ago that I was just hoping that one day I would be able to do that. My mile times used to be in the 9:30s so the disappointment that my mile times aren't in the 8:40s or even 8:30s is really something to think about. I should be happy that I'm now consistantly sub-9 and move on (forward).

stupid Stupid STUPID

So Monday, due to sheer laziness, I didn't go back to the car ( a mere 100' away) to get my vest and headlamp. The result was a twisted ankle and scrapes on just every limb! Now I need to wait until the swelling goes down...which WILL BE before the Mud Run next Satuday...to run again. And the really sad part was that I felt my time was pretty good on the first half. I was almost finished with the run before fate stepped in. Damm. Enough said.

More training

Will the madness never end?

Yesterday I wore the boots and walked the dogs about 2.5 miles. They felt good on the walk, although I need to get used to how heavy they feel. And, of course, the pants are not light either. What a change from what I'm used to!

I didn't feel any hot spots, didn't feel any rubbing (of course I was wearing thick wool socks which I'm not planning on doing again since I'm not going to wear them on the race), they felt flexible enough. What else do I need to look for? I've done the mud run, but never in Boots & Utes.

I am planning on hiking to either First Water or Orchard on Saturday. The Forest Service said those trials opened today so my plan is to be up there while Dave runs 8 miles with the Rouge Racers :)

Can't wait for Oct 17 so this madness is over with. But we may do City of Angels Half on Dec 6th. ARGGG Oh the madness.
